The Tuscany region is dominated by centuries old villages, castles, olive groves, vineyards and long hot sunny days!It is also an area used by some of the world's top cyclists as a pre season training ground and it is easy to see why with spectacular sights and a huge variety of riding options.
On this tour you can ride past fields of olive trees and vineyards, and through medieval villages built by the Romans.
It is the perfect place for a cycling holiday and Kiwi Style Bike Tours are pleased to be able to offer this popular tour again for 2010.
Lucca is the first stop on this tour. Lucca is a medieval town (180 BC) surrounded by a 30ft, 4 km long stone wall. It is possible to ride along the top of the wall and is a great way to wind down after a memorable ride around the area.
The ride above the world famous Cinque Terre is sure to be a highlight of your trip.
Monte Serra (917m) is also nearby, a very popular climb and often used by professionals to gauge their fitness levels. Why not try to beat Ivan Basso's record of 16 min 10 sec!
The last half of the tour moves to one of the most famous Tuscan villages, San Gimignano, a village dominated by its 15 towers and also home to the world gelato champion!

We have a limited amount of 2008 EMC2 Etape road bikes for hire. The frames are aluminum with carbon forks and rear stays with Shimano 105 components.
The price for a Tuscany Tour bike hire is NZ$360.00
The riding is a mixture of flat and rolling roads with several short sharp climbs along the Cinque Terre and around San Gimignano.
There is only a small amount of true flat riding. The ride up Monte Serra is optional.
The tour has a moderate to hard rating.
All our tours have one rest day included in the itinerary.
You will need to have a reasonable standard of fitness to get the most out of this tour.
