This is a very historic route that was first coined as an idea by the Touring Club de France in 1909 to promote tourism in France and provide people access to the dramatic French Alps.
In 1913 the first run along parts of the “Great Alps Route” was organized with only World War One bringing construction of the route to a halt temporarily. The route was completed in 1937 with the inauguration of the I’Iseran.
This is a beautiful and spectacular journey along an historic route by bike through the high peaks of the French Alps starting from Menton to the Mediterranean Sea.
