The trip in 2012 is 10 nights and has been broken into 2 separate areas in close proximity of each other allowing you the chance to ride the famous climbs you have seen on TV, with minimal driving transfers between areas.

Famous mountains like Alpe d'Huez, Col du Aravis, Col du Galibier and the Col de la Colombiere are all within striking distance of our hotels.

This is a very historic route that was first coined as an idea by the Touring Club de France in 1909 to promote tourism in France and provide people access to the dramatic French Alps.

In 1913 the first run along parts of the “Great Alps Route” was organized with only World War One bringing construction of the route to a halt temporarily. The route was completed in 1937 with the inauguration of the I’Iseran.

This is a beautiful and spectacular journey along an historic route by bike through the high peaks of the French Alps starting from Lake Geneva to the Mediterranean Sea.

Starting on the edge of Lake Geneva and finishing at the Mediterranean Sea the Great Alps Route is one of the world’s classic tourist drives and has also become one of the most popular cycle rides in France.

Sixteen major cols feature on a route 680km long, some of which are the highest paved roads in Western Europe. Many of the passes have been made famous by the riders competing in the Tour de France.
